Christ, when tempted in the desert, defeated Satan through the Word (Luke 4:1-13).

He rebuked the Pharisees for not knowing the Scriptures or the power of God (Matthew 22:29). He prayed to the Father asking Him to sanctify us through the truth, and concluded saying: Your word is truth(John 17:17).

The Word of God needs to determine our creed, define our identity, and guide our steps, for it is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. With it, we should rejoice more than with riches (Psalm 119:14); we should feed on it more than on bread (Matthew 4:4).
